Ruby and Millie vs Summer Fridays: Is It Actually Good or Just a Dupe?

Ruby and Millie’s Lip Butter Balm keeps showing up in stores and online - but is it actually good or just a knock-off? Till this day my friends keep thinking I have the whole collection of Summer Fridays which tells you a bit about them.....just saying.

"So....Let's Talk About That 'Summer Friday' Lookalike"

If you’ve ever been walking through TJ Maxx or Marshalls, you’ve probably seen it.

That brown tube.
Minimal text.
Very familiar vibe.

And you pause for a second like…“Wait - is that Summer Fridays?

Yeah, Same. You're not special (¬_¬”).

| Is Ruby and Millie actually good, or is it just another cheap knockoff?

| Am I about to buy Winter Tuesdays, Autumn Wednesdays, SPRING MONDAYS !?!?, likeee IDK MAN. ヽ༼ಥ_ಥ༽ノ

| Or is this one those cases where the outside looks like Summer Fridays but inside is just pancake syrup or petroleum jelly and it's not from Vaseline, just straight petroleum (⍪_⍪) from a refiner......

That’s exactly how I first noticed Ruby & Millie Lip Butter Balm. I kept seeing it, kept mistaking it for Summer Fridays, and kept wondering the same thing everyone else seems to wonder:

So I finally bought it and have been buying - and here's my honest take.

Let’s be real: Ruby and Millie knows what their doing aesthetically. The clean tube, the soft-touch feel, the muted colors — it fits perfectly into the whole “minimal, effortless, clean-girl lip balm” category that Summer Fridays made popular. That’s why so many people (myself included) mistake it at first glance.

I’ve actually never used Summer Fridays - not because it’s bad, but because the thought of spending $30 on a single lip balm felt like a lot, especially when there are so many other things I want to buy too.

So when I saw Ruby and Millie for $6–$9, I thought worst case - I don't like it and I didn't spend much OR Best case, I find something I genuinely love.

I've watched multiple creators compare Ruby and Millie side by side with Summer Fridays, like the:

My Experience Using Ruby & Millie

So..... I have dry lips, like when i come out the shower or outside drops by a degree too cold, my lips look like I was munching on some expired powdered donuts.

I prefer lip butters that you know.......feels buttery, live up to it's name, that kinda stuff ヽ(ಠ_ಠ)ノCuz if I WANTED LIP GLOSS I wouldn't have FREAKING SEARCHED LIP BUTTER (╯°Д°)╯ ┻━┻. So..................the first thing I noticed is that Ruby and Millie is thicker than what most people describe Summer Fridays to be (゚ヮ゚).

And honestly?
That’s exactly what I wanted. The thicker consistency worked in it's favor for me. The applicator is also really good - it pairs well with the formula and makes application smooth instead of messy. And the tube itself has that soft, silicone-like feel that gives it a surprisingly luxe touch.

Does it feel cheap?
No.

Does it feel luxury?
It actually does - especially for the price.

Why Everyone Thinks It's Summer Friday.

Where to Buy Ruby and Millie (TJ Maxx vs Amazon vs Brand Site)

If you’re thinking of getting it, here’s the real breakdown.

TJ Maxx / Marshalls

Pros

  • Cheaper

  • Fun to find

  • Great if you’re already there

Cons

  • Not guaranteed

  • Can be out of stock

  • You might waste time or gas

It's basically a scavenger hunt, because it's not available on their website, plus you do have to spend 65+ for free shipping, so..... yeah ( ̄_ ̄)・・・

Amazon

Pros

  • Easy access

  • Easy returns

  • No driving required

It's great if you don't live near TJ Maxx or Marshalls, so if convenience matters to you Amazon is the easiest option.

Ruby & Millie Website

I’m not affiliated with them, but you can always check their official site if you prefer buying directly from the brand. It's always reassuring - at least for me - when you see an unknown brand has an official website, makes it less suspicious ٩(̃-̮̮̃-)۶.

I wholeheartedly do recommend this and every single collection - depending on your skin tone, I always restock on them from either their website or Amazon, especially the Ruby & Millie - Mint Glow, I have a darker complexion, so i naturally go for transparent shades
